Eddie Murphy Net Worth:   Eddie Murphy is an American comedian, actor, producer and celebrity whose net worth is $85 Million.  He has been called one of the most bankable comedians of all times for all the right reasons. Infact he is the most grossing actors on account of his movies that have grossed nearly $6.7 Billion as of now.

Eddie was born in Brooklyn. His date of birth is April 3, 1961. His mother, Lillian, was a telephone operator, and his father, Charles Edward Murphy, was a transit police officer and an amateur actor and comedian. Murphy’s childhood was mired with challenges. He elaborates on his Childhood’s emotional belaboring  in these words;

My mother and father broke up when I was three, and he died when I was eight, so I have very dim memories… He was a victim of the Murphy charm (laughs). A woman stabbed my father. I never got all the logistics. It was supposed to be one of those crimes of passion: ‘If I can’t have you, no one else will’-kind of deal. Someone said to me one day, ‘That’s why you don’t trust women.’ Get the fuck outta here. What are you, a fucking psychiatrist?” –

Murphy was always inspired by Bills Cosby and  Richard Pryor and his standup routines initiated after these legendary figures. His early comedy was characterized by frequent satire and mocking of diverse group of people. The most frequent and favorite ones being the African Americans, White Anglo-Saxon Protestants and Italian Americans. He would also crack jokes about overweight people and gays.

In 1980, he got the major break of his career when he joined the cast of SNL ( Saturday Night Live). He earned enormous fame through that show and became a household name. Eddie later became the main host of the show and remained in that position until 1984.  Murphy opened hs first show as the main host with the phrase, “Live from New York, It’s the Eddie Murphy Show!”

He got his first break in the holly wood back in 1982, when he was still hosting the SNL.  The movie was named 48H. In 1984, Murphy starred in the successful action comedy film Beverly Hills Cop. The film was Murphy’s first solo leading role. This movie grossed over $230 million at the box office and as of August 2012 was 41st in the list of all-time total U.S. box office grosser. In 1987, Murphy reprised his role of Axel Foley in the movie Beverly Hills Cop II. It was a box office success, grossing almost $300 million worldwide.

Murphy’s Majority of the movies which were meant for an adult audience such as  Metro, I Spy, and Showtime all grossed less than $40 million domestically and hence were moderate performers. Holy Man performed poorly, grossing less than $13 million, and The Adventures of Pluto Nash is on record as one of the biggest theatrical money-losers of all time, grossing just $7 million globally. The movie’s  reported budget was $110 million. However, two of his movies aimed at adult audience  named Frank Oz and  Bowfinger were able to garner generally positive critical reviews and grossed $98 million at the box office.

Murphey ended his 13 years marriage with Nicole Mitchell in 2006. He had to pay $ 15 Million in the divorce settlement.  Now Murphy aims to release his Beverly Hills Cops 4 at the end of 2016.
